As an invited speaker, Professor Stein Kaasa gave a lecture at the online part of the course “Improving Cancer Outcomes and Leadership: A European Initiative”, organised by The European School of Oncology (ESO).

The main aim of this course is to address inequality issues across Europe to improve the quality of care and patient outcomes. The course is tailored for healthcare professionals, industry experts, patient advocates, healthcare researchers, and regulatory personnel. It aims to equip them with the knowledge to develop strategies, engage in relevant research, and build skills to drive change management within their own regions and countries. The training program has a patient-centred approach and intends to develop a network for participants to share initiatives and best practices.

The main topics for the course was:

  • The European Code of Cancer Practice
  • Strategic healthcare improvement skills
  • Awareness and implementation of good practice
  • Innovation based on sound evidence and the appropriate interpretation of RCT data
  • Change management skills
