EACVI's Edler Lecture 2024
The Edler lecture is a prestigious highlight of the annual European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) congress. Professor Kristina Haugaa is invited to hold the EuroEcho2024 Edler Lecture "Seeing the unseen: how echocardiography transformed the understanding of mitral valve prolapse".
EuroEcho-Imaging is the forum in which both clinicians and scientists gather to present and discuss the latest research and clinical applications of echocardiography in the context of other relevant cardiovascular imaging modalities. The main themes in 2024 will be valvular heart disease and precision medicine.
Edler Lecture
The Edler Lecture is held during the inaugural session and named in honor of Dr. Inge Edler, who is widely regarded as the father of echocardiography. This lecture celebrates the pioneering spirit and continued advancement in the field of cardiovascular imaging.
Delivered by a distinguished expert chosen for their contributions to the field, the Edler Lecture offers insight into the latest research achievements and future directions. It honors Dr. Edler's legacy and underscores the importance of innovation in improving patient care. The lecture serves as both a tribute to past milestones and an inspiration for ongoing advancements in cardiovascular imaging.
The conundrum of arrhythmic mitral valve prolapse
The Edler Lecture is given during a the symposium, in which the presenters will explore the role of echocardiography in diagnosing and risk stratifying mitral valve prolapse. They will provide insights into the imaging criteria and prevalence of Mitral Annular Disjunction (MAD) and its relationship with arrhythmias. Additionally, the discussion will cover the importance of multimodality imaging and the application of artificial intelligence in the accurate diagnosis and effective management of patients with mitral valve prolapse.
Several ProCardio researchers involved
In addition to Prof. Haugaa, several ProCardio researchers from OUS and NTNU will give presentations and/or chair at EuroEcho 2024.
