Aims and Strategies of the group
The overall aim of the Research Centre for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Division of Gynaecology and Obstrtrics at the Oslo University Hospital is twofold:
1. To develop and carry out research projects at a high international level in the fields of obstetrics and gynaecology (women’s health research), in collaboration with the patient groups we are clinically attending. The focus of research is twofold:
• Clinical translational studies:
Pregnancy complications (preeclampsia, placenta diseases and later cardiovascular health), including the HAPPY PATH studies, based on Oslo Pregnancy Biobank.
Gynaecological cancer (ovarian and endometrial cancer)
• Clinical studies:
(Obstetrical outcomes, thrombosis of pregnancy, urogynaecology, endometriosis, adenomyosis, myoma uteri and operative minimal invasive techniques)
2. To maintain research support functions for the Division of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the Oslo University Hospital, located at Ullevål and Rikshospitalet. This includes advising researchers within and outside of the organization, research counselling for the administrative managers, research education, quality assurance of clinical studies and internal procedures, staff and support functions for the research group (human resources, economy, and administration), web editing for The Research Handbook (Oslo University Hospital), as well as maintaining web pages for research activities.
The motto of the research centre for obstetric aid and women’s diseases is:
From clinical to basic research, patient-centered
• Our strategy is to initiate and further develop good projects of cooperation internationally as well as enhance regional and local cooperation within our clinical and research fields.
• Our aim is to be a leading translational research group in Norway and at the same time to be at the forefront of international research in clinical and translational science within the area of obstetrics and gynaecology.
